ww: not again

Two big* concerns this week, guys. Ugh.

First up: surprise surprise, it’s mid August and the mare has early signs of rainrot, again, ughhhh

i really thought we were past the worst of the season, but am determined to not be caught flat footed — so we did another chlorhex scrub-a-dub

lol, only did half the mare tho bc natch the *day* after our big show, the weather turned mild and cool. cross your fingers for us that we started treatment quickly enough!

ooh and Item #2, perhaps, in the grand scheme, a *slightly bigger deal, ymmv, my (un)trusty craigslist #redneckmobile started making HORRENDOUS noises on the way to Waredaca this weekend…. The drive home was, uh, stressful to say the least.

mechanic literally heard me pull into his lot and met me at the door with a quart of power steering fluid. all things considered, not as bad as I feared. hopefully we can keep the voracious beast quenched with topping off the fluids until we can get in for our scheduled repair appt!

That’s my drama for the week…. anybody else got any carnage going on?

  1. *shakes fist at sky* Thank goodness for the more mild weather on the horizon. Hopefully that rain rot sorts out in short order.

  3. We need to sage this week or something. I'm sick. My dad is in the hospital cardiac ward. Plus work stress. I'm sorry about the rain rot and the fluid-guzzling truck. Glad it wasn't something more serious.

  4. A wheel literally fell off our horsebox (luckily without horses in it) this week. Love that for us.

  5. I too have been fighting rain rot for weeks. Dude has been shedding since June and I am not sure if its the Rot or he's prepping for a very hard winter. I'm assuming Rot and treating daily. (he's also had an eye infection from flies since his pals will Not. Allow. Masks.) And I was attacked by a suicidal deer which somehow totaled the van without setting off the airbag. We got a new-to-us vehicle yesterday.
Weren't planning on a car payment for a while but here we are. This one better run forever.

    1. I never understood it when people say they got “hit by a deer” until one literally appeared to be trying to race out in front of my car… like good lord deer, pls don’t! Congrats on the new vehicle and all, tho yea that’s a big adjustment when you weren’t expecting it ….

  6. Truck trouble when pulling the trailer is the worst. I can understand why you were stressed- yikes! And hopefully the recent spat of cooler and dryer weather will help with the skin issues. It has been such a rough summer in the regard.
