charlie eats a taki

And possibly has some regrets....

Aaaaaaaand that about sums up our weekend around these parts. Just the usual: depleting my horse's hard fought trust in me by feeding him spicy junk food haha. Mmmm takis....

Honestly I was surprised he even ate it, considering I tried harder than I'm willing to admit to get him to eat a peep last year, and failed miserably. I guess nobody can resist the takis tho. Not even horses.

Or ya know, maybe it's just something to pass the time while soaking that damned hoof. Either way, bless Charlie's entertaining soul lol.

I promise no ponies were harmed in the making of these gifs!! Can't say the same for the takis tho.... #gonetoosoon. Is your horse an adventurous snacker too?? Or have you already driven him to extreme skepticism by feeding too much weird shit??? lol....

Anyway, hope y'all are having a slightly more exciting weekend! And if not, maybe the horse-eating-a-taki-and-living-to-regret-it gifs were just what you needed?? ;)

  1. Gem is picky. No sugar cubes. Barely touches a peppermint. Watermelons are big horse treats here and she walks away. She won’t share a granola bar with me. She won’t eat anything that isn’t a carrrot or carrot flavored.

  2. I haven't really tested Chimi with weird foods but I did have a pony growing up that loved peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and pickles :) He was a such silly pony!

  3. Ruby will eat literally ANYTHING. Twizzlers, chips, pepperoni combos -- if you're eating it, she wants some.

Cinna had to be force fed a candy cane last year (as in I shoved it in her mouth and literally held her lips together so she couldn't spit it out on me 😂). Now she likes them, but she is not willing to try new things without extreme duress haha.

    1. haha ruby sounds like isabel. isabel would eat.... so much stuff that probably she should not have. one time she spotted some spilled cat chow on the barn aisle floor and hoovered it up before i could stop her. then immediately spit it all out and looked LIVID, as if i had somehow tricked her into eating cat food and it was all my fault....

  4. I had to google takes. I don’t think that we have them here. Steele hated peppermints and would spit them across the barn if you put one in his feed bin. Irish LOVES them and Carmen likes candy canes. Both Irish and Carmen will try things. Irish also loves flavoured bute which has made life easy. Carmen LOVES cranberry juice. She will stick her nose right in your drink. I should try her on cranberries. She also loves raspberries. All of this is funny, because when I got her I had to teach her about treats.

  6. Charmer won't eat anything other than carrots. Not carrot-flavored, not fancy treats, not even apples. Only carrots. Its quite boring really...
Wonder on the other hand has not turned down a single thing I've offered. He loves peppermints, carrots are great too, any fancy treat is definitely good, he even likes Skittles! (yes...I fed skittles to my horse...)

    2. Flounder once got stitches above his eye and WOULD NOT let me take them out when the time came, I tried all his favorite snacks, sneak attacks, slow attacks, he WOULD NOT HAVE IT, so I scheduled the appointment for the vet to come sedate him and get them out lest he rip them out on his own. My assistant holds him and casually offers him a cheezit while the vet tries without sedation, just to see. TWO SNIPS and the vet was done

Such is the magic of the cheez it

  11. Crumble is a weirdo. He loves peppermints, most horse treats, carrots, apples...but molasses treats are poison. And his favorite treat of all time? Panacur. Not kidding. He will suck the whole tube out of my hand.

  12. Haha! Jean-Luc will literally lick and devour anything he can. I have to careful because, honestly, if you present it to him, he’s going to eat it. When he first came into my life it was such a problem we had to reteach his personal space/ bubble. It was intense!

This one just really cracked me up though
