the important part of this picture is charlie's shadow haha. those knees tell the real story of what's about to go down lol! |
Luckily we could still have our normal Saturday jump lesson (just in the arena instead of out in the xc fields), and then were able to re-imagine our team hunter pace (and related tailgating) as an xc outing at nearby Tranquility.
turns out we can drop into the head of the lake over tiny stadium jumps too! #skilled #ready4rolex |
So in the meantime, here are two teaser pics that ought to give you a sense of how things stand in the jumping department currently. Hint: the big bay horse is GOIN FOR IT lol. And I'm basically just along for the ride.
Trust me when I say there's plenty more where the above came from too, since we're definitely at that point in Charlie's education where he's kinda grown a little over-enthusiastic... but is still not super coordinated or. um, graceful lol. Shenanigans ensue.
Hope you all had a nice weekend too - and were able to get out and about a little bit with the ponies! It feels like spring is finally arriving for real now, and everyone is super eager to take advantage!
Fancy boy!
ReplyDeletelol fancy is one word for it!! ;)
DeleteGlad that you had some fun. I am still not able to school with any regularity- we had snow yesterday. Sigh. I'm getting very discouraged.
ReplyDeleteugh sorry to hear that. so frustrating! hopefully the weather turns for you soon!
DeleteUgh - that rain! Fingers crossed Spring is here for real now!
ReplyDeleteso much rain, ugh. but i feel pretty confident that we're fully entrenched in spring-mode. i can deal with the mildly cool weather for a while longer, so long as it doesn't go crazy on us lol
DeleteSorry your plans did not survive contact with the enemy, but yeah, it's spring and you'll have that. Sounds like you got some things done anyway even if they were not the things you originally had planned. I had the same problem with my weekend, ugh, but all was not lost over here either. :) Spring is like that... you make plans and then see how it goes.
ReplyDeleteyea we were pretty bummed about the change up of plans, altho things ended up working out pretty well anyway. spring is definitely like that haha!!
Deleteyes i have never seen so much mud at our show this weekend. glad you got to ride and boy oh boy i think Charlie is starting to like the jumping yes? :)
ReplyDeleteomg yes he is starting to like the jumping. he is starting to LOVE it haha, and thinks he has it allllll figured out now ;)
DeleteYAY glad hes going for it in excitement!!!
ReplyDeletemy CT went on as planned which i'm actually amazed at because the world was a swamp.
such a swamp omg. yay about the CT tho - can't wait to hear about it!
DeleteYou too Megan? OMG so swampy and so much water everywhere. All i kept thinking was THANK GOODNESS It was a CT and no cross country cause i would have had to scratch. There was some slippage at the one i was out (Not my horse thank goodness) :)
Deleteugh yea i can imagine running xc would have been very touch and go this weekend - tho actually down here by sunday things were dry enough to school
DeleteSorry your plans got unraveled. He does look to really enjoy this jumping thing now.
ReplyDeleteunraveled plans just mean room for new plans, right? ;)
DeleteWe've had like a solid week of rain which means nothing fun outside is happening, so I can't wait to live vicariously through your video and pics! 😀
ReplyDeleteha have no fear, video is coming!!
DeleteUgh this rain!!! Messing with all our plans. Can't wait to see the media from your weekend, though! :D
ReplyDeleteomg so much media haha, even with all the rain. just gotta find time to write about it all!
DeleteI'm interested to see how big of a splash he managed to get in that first picture! XD
ReplyDeletea BIG splash haha. it doesn't show up much on the video, but the splatters went all the way up to the saddle pommel (and all over my leg and boots haha) on a 17h horse lol....
DeleteSpring is definitely here and I am loving it (except for so much mud but I'll take it over snow!) And enthusiastic Charlie is cute as hell--he's all "I DO DIS!" in his pics now, haha! Looking forward to seeing all the shenanigans!
ReplyDeleteyea the mud thing is a real problem this time of year.... and i don't even have a gray horse!
DeleteI hope Charlie's new found confidence/lack of peacefulness & shenanigans doesn't result in a mishap...or at least not ouchies - I mean you are the queen of the awesome gifs 👑
ReplyDeleteha so far so good on the mishap front. i mean, he's a big awkward horse and i'm pretty rusty, so things are bound to go a little sideways now and then.... but so far he's proven quite honest!
DeleteI think peacefulness was an autocorrect and now reading the comment back I've no idea what I might have been trying to say. Sorry!
DeleteGlad youbguys ate doing so well building a good partnership together ☺
Love how much fun you're both having!
ReplyDeletethanks ;) i'm really enjoying the big guy!
DeleteGO CHARLIE GO! That's all I can say after that last picture. He looks like a blast.
ReplyDeleteThat rain was horrible! And Charlie's growing on up!
ReplyDeleteEventually I will think of a comment about something other than my unfettered admiration of Charles, but it hasn't happened yet.
ReplyDeleteSplish splash taking a bath. Go Charlie!
ReplyDeleteWhew he is ready to GO - can't wait to see the video
