TOABH - History of the horse

Beka from The Owls Approve is doing a really awesome blog hop series in anticipation of Archie's 18th birthday. The series promises to be very pony-centric - which is something we can all get behind.

First up: Beka wants to know about the History of the Horse

Before you met, where was your horse?  Who bred him/her?  What do you know about his sire and his dam?  What do you know where he came from?  Tell me about the time before he had a trainer.

So I already answered the questions relating to breeding here, wherein I reached out to Izzy's owner, who then supplied info and BABY PICS of Ms. Thing. Don't really know anything about her dam tho.

Isabel

her sire Admiral Harnly

Isabel comes from some arab sport horse stock that has proven to be quite popular with the local eventing crowd. Pretty cool! She was originally trained by her breeder (I believe - not sure at all whether she had help, or any other circumstances) and did some dressage shows.

we can totally do this

Tho at the time her current owner met her (at about age 10), she was living fairly idly as a pasture pet, and had not been ridden in a year or so (maybe more?). I'm not exactly clear on why this is, bc her breeder is still very much involved with horses - and apparently has another mare currently bred by Admiral.

In any case, she has a very solid foundation on her - any work I've done has been on refinement.
