random ruminations

Updates to come on other things later. For now: a quick snippet of recent observations

  • Isabel will no longer eat peanuts. I thought this was the most genius treat idea evar, and was thrilled when she initially showed interest. But the charm is broken and princess is finished with them. (In fact - if you try to give her one, then follow up with, say, a sugar cube, she will be highly suspicious lol)
sigh. it was good while it lasted!

  • People leave the tack room door open and then wonder why there are cat scratches on their saddles. Guys. C'mon. It's common sense. The tack room is warm and cats are drawn like magnets to the exact location you'd least like to see them (ie, your expensive saddle seat).

  • I impulse bought the iron/champagne pipers that were recently on clearance. I LOVE the color, and maybe figured out my initial problems with my first pair: These pants need to be worn a couple times before they relax and break in a bit. They feel solidly 'meh' at first, but now I love and wear both pairs often. So I think it's just a matter of giving them time.
i believe we are mid dolphin-leap in this pic, but it's a nice shot of the pants!

  • The other night my hair was still in a braid from earlier and I figured I'd leave it like that for a quick evening ride - rather than take out the braid and do my typical hunter hair. HUGE mistake. Ughhh. My hair was all up in my face and it was miserable. Hairnets, folks. Every time.

That is all :)

  3. Bummer she doesn't like the peanuts anymore! Although if Dino had his way, he'd be eating sour gummy worms and marshmallow peeps instead of peanuts. ;)

  4. Totally agree about the pipers! I've got two pairs and I wasn't thrilled with them at first, but now I'm pretty happy with them.y only complaint still is that they gap in the back and I HAVE to wear a belt with them, which I find annoying. I have the full seats though, maybe the knee patch don't do that?

    1. Yea it's funny how they're a little weird at first. But whatevs - I like them now! And I pretty much always were a belt anyway so that's not a huge deal for me

  5. I also bought those Pipers when they were on sale but a few blogger reviews kept me from taking the plunge. They look good on you though!

    1. Yea the reviews had me worried too. My first pair was something like 20% off tho so I figured it was worth a shot. Took a while to warm up to them, but I'm 100% sold now!

  6. I forgot about peanuts! I meant to try those as a treat. Too bad she doesn't like them anymore. :(

That's funny about the saddles. People are dumb. I hope you have a saddle cover for when they leave the door open!!!

    1. Hopefully the peanuts work better for Chrome!! I'm not too worried about Isabel's saddle bc it's synthetic and also usually covered in a saddle pad... Plus it doesn't belong to me lol

  7. I felt the same way about the pipers, I bought a pair, think they're cute but was kind of meh on the way they fit and how they felt. Suddenly I'm wearing them as much as I can and wanting to buy another pair. I'm not sure when the change in my feelings toward them even happened!

  8. I always have my hair in a pony or french braid! My hair is never in my face and even if the baby hairs start to rub on my forehead I got a little crazy lol
