Because I am an extremely literal person and these are, in fact, photographs of a mare in buttercups.

such a pretty view! |
Unfortunately for this particular mare, she blew up over night on the spring grass and has been relegated to the grazing muzzle. Poor soul!
|
she almost looks excited to see me! |
So I suppose the Hannibal Lector chic style Isabel is working here somewhat ruins the aesthetic of the otherwise bucolic setting... Oh well.
|
maybe she's excited bc she knows i'll take the damn thing off |
Anyways. Pretty pictures of my butterball mare surrounded by buttercup flowers aside, today is show day at Fair Hill!! I've honestly not dedicated a lot of brain space to this show for a few reasons - mostly revolving around not feeling fantastic about our jumping recently.
|
did anyone else ever play that game growing up where you would rub buttercup pollen on your chins? no? that was just me? well... whatever, the pollen works really well as a temporary dye haha |
We had a mostly positive lesson with Dan this week tho, wherein I maybe *finally* remembered the feel for rebalancing the canter dramatically in the corner then flowing forward to the fence, but not fast-n-flat. Plus Dan will be there with a young horse and agreed to coach my stadium warm up.
|
the pollen dyed my shoes too!! |
All I really want today is a solid, confidence building outing. The dressage test BN-B is usually a pretty good test for us, so it would be nice to see a good score. Mostly tho, I want to walk away proud of our jumping efforts. So we will see.
It should be a good day regardless. Weather is supposed to be lovely (even if the ground might be seriously questionable from all the rain this past week...) and my parents are coming to watch and spend Mothers Day with me. How sweet is that?
So wish us luck - and I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend too! Also congrats to
L Williams on 1,500 posts! Thanks for being such a wonderful part of this little blogging community - and esp thanks for just being awesome in general ;)
Cute shoes! And good luck!
ReplyDeleteI don't even think we have buttercups here lol I hope the show went/is going well!
ReplyDeleteI love BN B! Hope it went well!
ReplyDeleteMy sister and I did that with dandelions. Also tell Izzy to pass some of that pork over to a certain little Stinker he can still use a bit more.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have buttercups here, but we use to do this thing with dandelions. You rub the flower over your hand or down your arm. I think there was a rhyme that went with it too, but I can't remember it.
ReplyDeletethere WAS a rhyme but i can't remember it either!!
DeleteI think Yellow socks on horses are the new trend ;)
ReplyDeleteAre those ballet flat style rubber duck boots? Is that a thing that exists?
ReplyDeleteha amazon is full of amazing things. these are by a company called 'chooka' haha
DeleteUh yeah cool shoes. :D
ReplyDeleteI find this work of Isabel menacing/playful because of the way the disjunctive perturbation of the negative space makes resonant the substructure of critical thinking.
ReplyDeleteIt's difficult to enter into this work because of how the subaqueous qualities of the Isabel visually and conceptually activates the eloquence of these pieces.
Also, your shoes are a conundrum. Clearly designed to keep out the weather, but the open ballet style lets the weather in... I can only imagine this is your way of making a statement to the world about today's political landscape.
YES.
DeleteSo pretty! I wish our fields looked half as good as that.
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit behind on posts, but Gavin has the same grazing muzzle! Gotta love those fat fat fatties ;)
