we did it! an mdht preview

Woo hoo we made it through novice! It was a little messy... with uncharacteristic tension in dressage... plus I kinda went bowling through stadium. Oops. But cross country was excellent!

mare's expression immediately upon finishing xc :)
I've got a whole ton of media to share too - esp since Austen came and took pics with her awesome camera. And video too, natch. So hopefully that'll get organized soon....

weather was lovely too
I had a couple green mistakes and was riding a little tight (if it wasn't obvious from the last week or so, I was kinda stressed out about this lol), but Isabel rose to the occasion (mostly, ugh we'll talk about dressage later) and we made it happen. No ribbon, but I'm totally satisfied with the completion!

if you come to our horse show, you miiiiiight end up grazing our horses lol. thanks Austen!
Ooh and there was some other fun stuff going on this weekend!

this fence was *not* on the novice course at loch moy lol
Like when someone asked me and Alli whether we wanted to jump this 3* angled brush fence at Fair Hill.... Lol jk, but really I also have a zillion pics from Fair Hill International! Complete with some blogger meetups (and unicorn sightings). Should be good!

  3. Awesome, congrats! Experience is so much better than a ribbon, especially since the goal was to learn and get exposure. Good job!

  6. Congrats!! I couldn't remember where you were showing this weekend- I ended up going to VA for Kelly's Ford HT. Sad I missed what looks like a big meet up a Fair Hill/Loch Moy! Fair Hill is usually on my fall list of shows to groom at!

    2. Try being behind the scenes... not seeing anything, only hearing the commentary on the loudspeakers that are in stabling. Last time I was there grooming, trainer had a 2* and 3* horse going and well... it was a nerve wracking day because the announcers were all gloom and doom and you just want your horse and rider to come back safe. I think I cleaned her saddle like, forty times as I was trying to keep my own act together.

    3. oh man i can't even imagine! i had never been to an event at that level, and it was crazy how many horses we'd see go through, only to hear moments later that they ran into problems - lots of falls and refusals... i dont' know if i'd be able to watch a friend or trainer go through!!

    1. Lol yea it doesn't really look like a great performance on paper... But I promise the reality was actually a little better (except for dressage, that kinda blew lol). It was a good day and we will do better next time!

  12. Well done, I saw that brush and was like 'holy crap you guys moved up FAST!' haha.
Completion is what we should all aim to do, nothing like having a finishing number on that scoreboard. Well done guys, can't wait for the picture spam!

    2. Haha don't tell isabel that or she will get ideas! But yea sometimes a completion is enough. I will want more later, but for this show I am super happy with how it went. And NO that brush fence was NOT on course lol. Otherwise I might be singing a very different tune haha
