Using this title for the post bc I can't be the only one who is a little uncomfortable by how quickly time is going right now lol. Bc damn. I'm still not quite ready for October to be over... and yet. Here we are.
So in lieu of one complete, thoughtful post on a single subject, here's another collection of odds and ends. Some will be expounded upon further. Some are just here for the giggles.
Like that time we all went to watch cross country at Fair Hill!! Austen, Megan K, Alli and I all met up to enjoy all sorts of shenanigans (well, Megan had to catch up to us after jump judging all day lol). Twas much fun, I took a zillion pics and video, and we laughed at WAY too many things that probably weren't really very funny. lol. One day I'll do a full post, probably right around when I do my Plantation post too... |
I made a video tho. and I'm super annoyed that somehow a couple more clips from the two side-by-side waters (at the beginning and end of the course, one of my favorite spots to spectate) somehow didn't make it into the video. But I was too lazy to go back and edit. so. um. sorry? Pics will be in the (eventual) post tho!
(Also. I looked as closely as I could at the footage while editing, and it's perhaps too blurry and grainy to tell anyway, but there's no indication of blood yet on Scandalous's mouth as she gets through the coffin complex. According to reports tho, it became evident not very long after)
On a slightly different note, I had claimed to be inspired by Megan K and Stephanie's examples to do more event volunteering this summer, since I wasn't doing much competing with Isabel anyway. But good intentions and all being what they are, it actually never really happened. Lately tho I've maybe made up for it a little bit. Brita and I did some pinch-hit jump judging a few weeks back at OF, and then I filled the gap by scribing at a local MDA schooling dressage show at Tranquility. |
What about from this view? Anything about that mare stare that catches your eye? Virtual cookies if you figure it out. (And even MOAR cookies if you figure out why the familiarity!) |
Lastly, tho. I just want you all to know exactly how much thought and energy went into 2ptober. Not just the charts and graphs, but our grand schemes for public shaming those who dropped out of the race prematurely. Alas, basically everyone jumped back onto the bandwagon (most admirably, Carey - who heroically recovered from her concussion in time to add 1% to her baseline, and Olivia - who determined to show us exactly what was up by taking her 0% improvement and turning it into a second place finish). But I just want you all to know - we were ready for ya (with the expert assistance of meme genius Aimee) had you not coughed up those times!! So enjoy these pics anyway lol ;) |
you kind of make me wish i could be heckled. the heckling on this was awesome.
ReplyDeleteha glad you liked it lol. we maybe had a little too much fun with it ;)
DeleteI'm a little sad there wasn't one for me... I was pretty terrible at timing myself.
ReplyDeletelol had you not gotten in your week 3 time you would have certainly been on the list.
DeleteOh the public shaming would have been epic with those excellent memes 😂 looks like you've been having plenty of fun lately!
ReplyDeletewe try, we try!
DeleteHa, public shaming! One of my favorite things.
ReplyDeleteoddly satisfying tho all in good fun, of course ;)
DeleteOh I'm so sad the shaming memes never made it to publication! They are fantastic! We also definitely need another MD/PA blogger outing/gigglefest soon!
ReplyDeleteyas needs more meetups!! and in fact those memes DID make it to publication (as in, they are published in this here post), they just weren't as applicable as originally expected since those three riders ultimately put in a little more 2pt work
DeleteOkay I want to know about the mare now...
ReplyDeletenot gonna post the answers yet... but it's a question most easily answered by readers familiar with my pre-Charlie riding life.
DeleteI'm really glad I was not publicly shamed... not sure how I feel about it..
ReplyDeletelol very true... it's a shady line for sure. tho not without ample warning!!
DeleteWell the blaze seems like a mirror image of izzy..and I thought maybe the bay could be Bali but I checked and nope!
ReplyDeletewell bali WAS a bay... but he was also an ottb, and that lovely little mare above is an arab. the blaze is mighty similar to izzy's, isn't it ;)
DeleteOMG, did you make that meme of Nilla because it's amazing and I need it.
ReplyDeleteNever mind, now I see Sprinkerbandit made it, but can you send me a copy because I loves it. LOVES IT.
Deleteha yay i'm so glad you like it!!! check your inbox for the originals ;)
DeleteYeah... I deserved that. I am so bad at committing to things. If there are more of these, I definitely need to see them! Haha.
ReplyDeleteha but you did in fact finish with an even better time - so kudos!! all the same tho i totally tried to get aimee to make a meme for all 23 competitors. alas, she claimed that 'funny can't be forced.' not sure i'm buyin it tho!! ;)
DeleteThat blaze looks a LOT like Isabel's. She actually kinda looks like Isabel in bay. I'm probably just finding evidence for my own beliefs here, but Isabel's baby?
ReplyDeleteCousin, actually. If horses can be said to have cousins lol. Isabel is by Admiral, who was by Enzio. This bay mare is an Enzio baby. Basically all these Arabs have the little thin crooked blaze that reaches their lips too.
DeleteThis mare moved very much like Izzy too - cute fancy trot, very free through the shoulder but weak canter lol. It was fun to watch!!
I had to double check that it WASN'T Isabel. And for those who were shamed- don't worry- I think I will try this next year and that should take the heat off of you. :)
ReplyDeleteif you want to see another even MORE uncanny resemblance, scroll to the bottom of this post for a side by side picture of Isabel and another Enzio baby. these two are about the same age too so they probably grew up together.

Touche. Shaming was well done and called for. And Funny. Fuel for the fire for next year!
ReplyDeleteSo glad I read this late enough to not be kept in suspense about the mystery mare ;)
