'tis the season (for fall friskies)

So Brita's trusty mount Wick is notorious for getting dinged up in the field. He wants to be everyone's friend and loves to play. Previously his best buddy of choice was his twinsie* Willie, a nearly identical chestnut OTTB gelding. (*Sure there are a zillion chestnut OTTB geldings in the world, but seriously these two are only distinguishable by forelock - Willie has legit Fabio hair while Wick's locks are more subdued.)

Wick's penchant for collecting nicks and cuts and scratches and bumps is so well-known that we really ought to be keeping Brita in a constant supply of the Herbal Horse's Heal Quick...

But anyway, Bali recently moved to the geldings field in the hopes that the rough-n-tumble boys will teach him some respect - as his behavior in the lesson horse herd has become a tad unruly. Aaaaaand..... based on this pic Brita snapped, it's looking like Wick has a new bff haha.

play time!!

So.... uh, yea. 'Tis the season for cuts and bruises! Happy Saturday ;)

  2. That is Stinker! They tried a couple of pastures and he kept getting beat up because he was annoying everyone. He is in a pasture with all the butt heads now. Thankfully I haven't witnessed anything like that picture.

    1. yea that's pretty understandable... fortunately i've never seen any terrible injuries from play, but i guess it only takes one or two before you never want them to play again lol

  4. Theo was getting the entire gelding group into trouble today, snorting and galloping around like he's the lead stallion. He was so studly I had to put a chain on his nose to lead him in and check every inch of his legs.

  7. Violet has to be turned out on her own, since she either gets beat up or turns into Alpha mare. I always thought it would be nice to see her playing, but it's all pinned ears and teeth, with the end result being a popped splint.

    1. aw yea, popped splints are no fun! and my mare does *not* play either, ever. she'd rather have her hay lol.
