The fact that stalls are easier to clean in below-freezing temperatures is a thing that we kinda know - but simultaneously I forget just HOW true it is. (it's been a few years since I last regularly cleaned stalls when it was this cold out)
might look sloppy and soupy - but was actually quite easy to clean!
After all my whining and stressing about how impossible it would be to get through all the stalls in enough time to make it to Saturday's lesson, it was fine. Everything was fine.
these definitely helped
In my mind, I envisioned wet sloppy mucky stalls. In reality: just lots of poopsicles (that made satisfying little thuds when flung into a wheelbarrow) and wet spots that easily sifted away from the dry crisp clean sawdust. Easy peasy!
isabel's stall after a long night inside. i am NOT exaggerating about the princess thing lol
So we made it to the lesson after all - and without a ton of rushing or anything like that. The circumstances there will be written up later tho.
'oh hai, someone called my name?' - isabel
'oh. you. never mind not interested'
So it was a good weekend. Some plans did end up changing - but on my own terms rather than due to all the extra work.
Hope you all had a nice weekend too! I'll have more about this weekend posted later :)
Horse people definitely understand poopsicles! :) Glad you got the stall cleaning done and made it to your lesson. Isabel is very neat in her stall!
ReplyDeletehaha thanks! and yes - she's a very tidy mare
DeleteHahahaha - glad everything worked out for the best. Those last two pictures could totally be Kika's reaction to my appearance every single day - such expressive creatures. Bless Nancy she is always happy to see everyone and makes lots of noise about it too - i keep trying to catch it on video to share but have yet to catch a proper greeting from her with the video option on
ReplyDeleteawww i'd LOVE to see that video!! isabel can be very happy to see me when i arrive around dinner time and bring her in early for supper... otherwise, it's a crap shoot depending on her mood lol
DeleteI'm glad that everything worked out okay :)
ReplyDeletethanks!! me too :)
DeleteHa ha! Poopsicles!!
ReplyDeletelol
DeleteMy dog loves poopsicles...which is kind of disgusting! Whenever I can't find her I know she has taken off with a "tasty treat" and is hiding some where!
ReplyDeletehahaha ew puppy!
DeleteI got halfway through this post before I realized the title as Poopsicle instead of Popsicle.
ReplyDeletehahaha awesome - this is how i trick ppl into thinking that i cant possibly be writing about frozen turds lol
DeleteThe thud of poopsicle on wheelbarrow...music to my ears!
ReplyDeletesuch sweet sound!
DeletePoopsicles are awesome lol. I had forgotten how much easier it makes it too. I'm glad you enjoyed your weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteit was a good weekend - despite the cold lol.
DeleteThe thud a frozen turd ball makes when landing in a wheelbarrow is admittedly one of my favorite winter sounds.
ReplyDeletehaha right?? music to my ears :D
DeleteSome of my stalls I have a hard time telling the difference between frozen crap and frozen balls of shavings that look like they might be crap. I do a lot of stomping on clumps to figure it out. Can't be wasting shavings!
ReplyDeleteyea - there was definitely a lot of that too - esp since our sawdust pile cover isn't quite water-proof, so the 'clean' sawdust usually already has a bit of moisture in it... and no - mustn't waste the sawdust!!! that's a cardinal sin lol
Deletehahaha happy everything worked out ok
ReplyDeletethanks!!! :)
DeleteHahaha frozen poop is definitely easier than the mushy kind! I love Isabel's housekeeping skills!
ReplyDeleteshe is the most orderly and tidy horse i've met lol
