I ordered pro photos from our day at Loch Moy a few weeks ago!!! Actual physical prints, bc they were $5/each compared to $40 per web resolution digital download. And they finally arrived!

no, can't be a pic of me smiling in the dressage ring?? all photos used with purchase from Erin Gilmore Photography |
Not gonna lie, I was kinda surprised about the pricing model -- presumably there's a business reason for why the actual physical products (that require shipping) cost less than the digital equivalent? Maybe somebody here knows.

superstar mare, bein a superstar |
Regardless, obvi I had to snag a few! None of the dressage pictures were super impressive, naturally... Recall Doozy was pretty tense... Plus, eh, we're just not that good at it!
|
lookin sharp, Ms Dooz! |
We got a few nice jumping efforts tho <3 <3
|
wheeeee rompin around the xc! |
And I'm always a sucker for generic shots of just cruising around, lookin majestic!
|
this mare has the best expressions <3 |
My favorite shots, tho, are the random candids <3 Would I buy the below picture for $40? No, probably not. But for $5? Yep I love it haha!
|
she knows she did good <3 |
There used to be another photography company that covered these events and would sell you a thumb drive with every single (un-edited) pic from your day, for the bargain price of $99. And guys, I bought that thumb drive *
every time.* When I'm just buying individual photos tho... Eh, I have a hard time spending more than $50 or $60 total. Ymmv.
I do love the pictures tho, any long-time reader knows this blog most fundamentally serves as a searchable indexed photographic archive of the last 10 years of my horsey history. It's fun to look at these pictures today and appreciate how far Doozy has come in the last few months! It's also fun to imagine under what circumstances I might be looking back on these pictures months or even years from now <3
Nice photo collection there! I always loved it when I showed up at a horse event with a professional photographer available. I'd be spending my money on those photos too!
ReplyDeleteRight??? Obvi I was lucky to get a lot of pics and video on my cellphone, but it’s so nice to get some high quality shots too!
DeleteMan there's nothing like that chestnut coat shine!!! I love the candids!
ReplyDeleteI love that chestnut shine too!! It kinda sorta (maybe) makes up for all the skin funk issues LOL
DeleteWell, that price structure is certainly interesting, but you did get some fabulous pictures!
ReplyDeletelol yea i thought the pricing was a bit strange too... tho when i went back to the website to double check against my memories, it looks like prints jumped in price to $8/ea...? idk, still a lot less than the digitals!
DeleteGorgeous! Both of you!
ReplyDeleteha thanks!
DeleteThose are lovely and worth every penny.
ReplyDeleteThese are really good pictures!
ReplyDeleteIt's been so cool to watch how far you two have come 🙂
I LOVE when they offer an all shots bundle! I buy it every time. But I agree, if you have to buy individually I usually just pick one or maybe two. Though at $5 a pop, I'd probably get a whole bunch too.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful. You two are such a great pair already!
These are excellent! When we photograph rides, I make the digital prints affordable to encourage people to buy them instead of scanning/photographing prints. We also offer package deals. If someone asks about a LOT of photos, I work out a price and send them all the photos I got of them. (What else am I going to do with them?) When I see show photographer pricing, it makes my head spin.
ReplyDeleteI've never once regretted spending money on pictures!
